Marco Hall: A Life in Fashion
Fashion is so closely identified in modern popular culture with the :GBTQ community, that highlighting its great gay designers seems almost an afterthought. That’s Marco Hall, a Black, gay, self-taught clothier who has been bringing forth genuine magic from his gifted mind and hands. From a small, but fabulous boutique called MH302 in Newark, New Jersey, Marco is spinning dreams as quickly as his spirit can call them forth. “I create with my feelings,” Marco told Inspire Live! Through it all, Marco has maintained an unassuming good grace about his work. “I want people to be happy when I wear my clothes,” the designer says, “because that makes me happy.” Marco admits to a lifelong love of fashion; he began sewing at an early age. Although Marco never underwent formal training, his work is of such a quality that it has been included in the storied Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) curriculum. His works have appeared on Sex And The City and in the historic Newark Museum Of Art, during the pandemic as a virtual fashion exhibit.
